Rules of the Site (Both afloat and ashore).
Site Rules and Information
This site is a private site forming part of the National Nature Reserve and compliance is necessary with any requirements of English Nature. Mr. Cator, the owner has stipulated that :-
- Access and egress is via Ferry Farm only You will need the security number, obtainable from the staff listed at the end of this page, to operate the gate
- All vehicles should display an authorised car pass.
- Speed is restricted to 5 M.P.H.
The above information is shown on the reverse of the car pass.
- Full Uniform to be worn onto and off the site at all times. Non warranted adults must carry some means of identity. Scouts entering or leaving the site on adventurous activities must wear easily visible scout identification.
The site is available from 1st April or Good Friday (which ever is the earlier) to 30th September for Norfolk Scouts and up to eight out of County groups by arrangement with the Warden, who with the chairman/site committee, is responsible to the Eastern Norwich Scout District for the administration, maintenance and ensuring that the site rules are observed. Failure to keep to the rules will result in being banned.
Rules
- No shooting activiites on site without prior approval.
- Wet pits must not be dug.
- The site must be kept clean and tidy. ALL RUBBISH MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE as there is no council refuse collection.
- No felling of timber to take place.
- To remain within the boundaries of our curtilage. The marshes around the broad and camp site are part of a National Site of Special Scientific Interest and as such are out of bounds to all scouts.
- Landing on the Broad side is not permitted.
- Boats canoes and trailers must be kept clear of the slipway.
- Boats are to be stored on group plots or in the designated area.
- Trailers are to be removed from the site if not in use.
- No cross country or track motorcycles
- No radios.
- No dogs without the permission of the warden.
- No site boats or equipment to be used without permission. Any damage must be reported to enable the site staff to carry out repairs.
- The Warden is to be notified of any craft left on the site. These craft must be left on group plots where possible and stowed tidily; other craft must be removed.
- No power craft, except the Decoy Safety Boat, are to be used on the Broad.
- Boats must not be left moored to either the quay or pontoon, when the site is not in use, except for one site coypu which may be left on the end of the jetty.
- ALL CRAFT MUST BE USED AND MAINTAINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF P.O.R.
- Buoyancy aids/lifejackets are to be worn by ALL personnel when going over the bridge towards the jetty.
- The broad is made up of Class C and Class B1 water. Correct authorisations are to be held for these waters.
Information
PERSONNEL
- Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Network Scouts must be in the charge of a responsible leader. Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Network Scouts must be under the supervision of a leader or responsible helper both afloat and ashore.
- Cub Scouts are not offered the use of the site owing to the nature of the environment.
- Visitors - All visitors must be authorised by the site warden and must enter and leave by the Ferry Road gate
FIRES
- Firewood may be available and can be found in the firewood enclosure. Please do not waste the wood.
- Altar fires only to be used.
WATER
- Water is available from stand pipes on the site. No washing of any kind is to be carried out at the taps.
LATRINES
- There are three cubicles with W.C.s and small wash basins.for girls and three for boys together with two for leaders/people/with physical disabilities. There are three changing/washrooms which may be used with Solar Showers. (Bring your own shower bags and please bring toilet rolls)
SITE BUILDINGS
- All group huts must be kept in good order, free from rubbish and the grass trimmed.
- No additions, alterations etc. to be undertaken without reference.
ANGLERS
- The area of marsh over the bridge in the N.E. corner of site 'A' is out of bounds to scouts. Anglers boats and mooring poles to be left alone.
- The interests of the anglers must be respected at all times and all reasonable care taken not to interfere with their activities.
- Fishing from the quay heading is permitted during the open season, while in the charge of a leader, provided that the relevant licences are held.
- No Boating before 1000 hrs on Sundays.
